Writing Centers????

Hmmmmm. (pardon my blunt tone :) )
Chyo excited about tutoring!! For sure I know we gotta initiate a conversation to help to writer find their theme/ topic. example.
Which is better expository or persuasive???
Showing personal involvement so where do we draw the line??? What happens if some one asks about Chicago formant or worse MLA ???Do we just say 'sucks to be you/ can't help ya?'
Hmmm list of principles for a writing center....?
We should:
1. Encourage the writer by asking questions
2. Show personal involvement
3. Be patience(tutor and writer)
4. Only focus on HOCs
5. Not write on the student's paper
6.Keep a positive attitude
7. If someone needs help, ask
8.Observe
9.Assess
10.And..... you gotta have faith, faith, faith you gotta have faiiiiiitttthhhh

  1. If you encounter a problem where you just don't know what to do for a student, direct a student to a resource where she can learn how to do it by herself. There are plenty of resources online and you should never be as cold as that and say, "I just can't help you." There's always a way to help! You just have to do it in a fashion that permits the student learn by herself. If you do the work for her, she will come back and expect that from you every time. It's not cool if students come back to you thinking you'll be doing everything for them.
